Nice attempt at bait thinking no one would go after the "greatest generation" they won WW2 sure, but they gave us the generation of greedy whiners we have now in the boomers.

What boomers did to succeed back in the day wasn't hard, that same strategy and work would leave you homeless these days. Y'all had everything handed to you and instead of doing the same for the next gen you said eff them. All patting each other on the back saying how tough you had it. BTW it's still boomers calling the shots in Congress, that's your legacy. Trying to blame it on the generation(s) you raised is a cop out.
And you wonder why your kids don't call or visit. Shameful.

Have been following the discussion without comment but that highlighted part could use some elucidation.

Starting off, no group in America who is decently employable has had it as hard as the folks who lived and tried to make a living through the Depression, that's a given. So no generation can claim they had it the hardest compared to that.

But could you be more specific about what part of getting and keeping a job wasn't hard and what particular strategy and work was it that would leave one homeless today? Time lines would help since back in the day is non-specific.

What I'm really asking is an explanation in as much detail as you can what sea change has occurred in the job market or life in general that can be applied to populations as a whole? I worked for 45 years right up until three years ago and I haven't seen any major difference nor except for nepotism which has always existed have I seen things handed to anyone. You still have to compete against other qualified people, same as always. You still have to offer value to your employer or take the major risk of self-employment, same as always. You still have to start out with no experience in a job market filled with experienced people, same as always. I don't understand what was so easy 50 years ago that is now hard and apparently obsolete.

The old days of working your way to the top and anyone who is ambitious are over. Forget competition and nepotism for a minute although that's also worse than ever.
I get you've been working a long time, that's my point. Back in the day when you were starting, you started at the bottom and are now in a much higher position. That doesn't exist anymore. The population has more than doubled in that time and they are importing laborers at record levels for the last decade+ add record inflation, record housing prices. None of that is seen by folks like you because you rose with it. Those starting out are fuched. Your post proves my point exactly.
If you need further proof then the homework is on you. Compare prices of housing, college, fuel, food etc over the last several decades and the percentage of income required to secure any of them. It's not comparable or even close.
We're paying for that, not you. Good on you got being born by accident in the right era, but don't think it's any more than that. FYI the greatest generation were just regular folks placed in an extraordinary situation. Yeah they were a little tougher to begin with because a higher percentage lived rurally. That's the cold truth and you know it as much as I do. I don't fault you for it, just don't deny that's the way it is now. Feel blessed rather than arrogant. Tall order for most boomers.

Look at the tombstones in an old cemetery and you'll see that the average was 60 because so many died as infants/children/young adults from ailments/diseases for which there were cures/vaccines later. Lots of people lived to be in their '80's and '90's if not taken out young by the likes of polio, pneumonia {almost always fatal before penicillin} etc.. My great grandparents were both in their 50's in 1940. Gramps lived to be 94 and gram missed her 102 nd birthday by 5 days. She lived on her own completely able to take care of herself until a stroke took her down at the age of 99.
