I have to say, "Favorite in what way?" Probably most attached to my old (1967) 788 in .222. Bought it new the first week they hit the market. learned to reload with that rifle, killed a lot of stuff with it (including deer before it got trendy to do so) and it would be next to the last rifle I'd ever get rid of. Currently have only a few others that I can think of, a Nylon 66 and a couple of 700's, one an XCR/CTR .223 and a recently acquired 700 Alpha 1 in .308. Both are what I consider solid, working rifles. Both are very accurate, efficient and border on butt ugly. Coincidentally, they are the only two rifles I killed more than one deer each with last year, all the other rifles I used were one and done for the season. I have come close to getting a new 700 C recently. I think they are the cleanest, most elegant looking bolt action rifles out there. If I came across a nice 700 Classic in any one of several particular calibers on one of the local consignment racks it would come home with me (for no good reason.)
Every time I think of a fave, I think of another. Have had very good service out of many 700's over the decades. Results so good across the board that I couldn't really pick just one.
Sweets it’s 700 BDL with the enhanced receiver, I bought a stock off one of the 7mm anniversary rifles with B grade walnut and stripped then refinished it linseed oil.
Current favorite is a 547 custom shop .22LR sporter. Looks good and shoots fine. Once, while young and dumb, I left a 40x sporter, a repeater IIRC, sitting in a gun store in CO.
I still like the 700 Classics too. I’ve owned a few dozen over the years but am down to 3 now: .270, .280 and 30-06. Downsizing now, I’ll keep one of the first two. The ‘06 might get tripped, but it might also get rebored. 🤔
Poconojack: I have a Remington 700 Sendero in caliber 270 Winchester. I use it on Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer and Antelope - I have also kill't one Bull Elk with it. This Rifle is so accurate I hesitate to expound on that, for fear of causing a CampFire "melt-down"! I recommend, if you ever see one of these heavy barrel synthetic stocked 270 Sendero's, BUY IT! Remington 700 classic in 3006 that I bought new in I think 1981. also had a BDL in 280 Remington that would have been my favourite but I iked it so much that I shot the throat out and had to sell.
Always fond of the late 70's Model 700 when I was a kid. Enjoyed the Model 742 in my 20's....but got back into the business with a 2005 700 Mountain DM 30-06.
EdM: I was at a small and out of the way gunshop in Butte, Montana Wednesday of this week and there amid the clutter was a VERY nice condition (with 10 round magazine) Remington 541-S (this being the sporter model?). I ask the proprietor how much it was - he replied "the owner wants me to sell that and a few other guns on gunbreaker". I replied I have cash how much does the owner want? No luck, the proprietor was dead set on going to gunbreaker with the gun and starting the bidding at $1.00! I could NOT persuade the owner of the shop to get a price from the guns owner (consignee?) no matter how I persisted. The gun was that nice and had very pleasing wood on it. So.... if anyone is interested in a really nice Remington 541-S (?) it should be on gunbreaker by now! I don't trust gunbreaker and the inclusive costs and worries. So "I" am out on this nifty rig. I own just two Remington 541's now (sold a few for profit) and they are both the T model (heavy barrels) and both are VERY accurate. I love every thing about the 541-T's except the cheap plastic magazines. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
My screen name maybe 348winchester but my favorite rifle is actually 600 Remingtons. I own just about every configuration of them except the rare .223. I also have several 660s as well. Oh and a 673 too. I killed my moose with it in 300saum. I only own 1 700 rem and its a custom rifle in .358 win. Don’t know how many rimfire Remingtons Ive got. If you know how many you own, you don’t own enough. Lol
A bowhunter at heart but a gun guy at soul. I'll take craftsmanship, wood and blue steel over plastic and composite any day.
