This has been posted before and many have bought them. I noted they are still available, so I thought I would post the link.

I'm considering g a 1-6x scope for sheep/deer rifle. How far will you shoot with the 4x?

I don't know. I've used this scope set on 4x to look at and aim at does in the field behind my house. It's 286 yards to the wood line. Hitting a deer would be no problem. I can't imagine it being a problem out to at least 400 yards.

I've got a late 70's vintage rig consisting of a Bushnell Banner 1.75-4.5X on a Browning BLR .308 Win and killed several deer with it between 300 and 425 yds.
Have a late 80's rig consisting of a Ruger 77 RL in 250-3000 with a Nikon 4X (fixed power) and killed a few deer with it all the way across a square 40 acre field (440 yds).
Have a 90's vintage rig consisting of a Win 70 Classic Stainless .308 Win with Leupold Vari-X III 1.75-6X and have killed deer to 600 yds with it, and several at 400 to 450 yds.

These are 1" tube scopes and the kills were all with field-expedient rests: no bipods.

Not bragging, just saying that 400 yds is reliably attainable with 4X and 600 yds is reliably attainable with 6X if you know your rifle and you know what you're doing.

I bought one to put on something. They seem decent for the price. My son and his brother-in-law bought 2 each. They are big into ARs and I think that is what they will use

My brother bought 2 also. He put one on a slug gun and one on a 30-06.

I’ve shot deer and coyotes well beyond 250 with a 1-4x and a big, fat triangle reticle. 4x is plenty to shoot stuff to 300. Looking them over and telling much about them, picking holes in brush, etc, that far out?….yeah, your binos and more Xs on your scope are more useful. 75% of my scopes are lower powered variables.

Thanks for the heads up. Saw this and ordered one for one of my .22's, maybe the 39A. Thanks!

aboltfan,

Thanks for the heads up. Anyone ever used Bushnell's warranty service? Will they honor it if I put one on a slug gun and it craps out as I am expecting it to based on recoil?

It is the same length as my Leupold VX-II 1-4x20. Not sure if those can be mounted on a big boomer. My brother had no issues mounting on his 06.

Looks like a good buy. I have a vortex 1x4x on a cz550fs 6.5x55. I might move that to my 750 Remy 35 whelen

Just trying to look out for us. I bought three, my brother one and my hunting partner two. To the question of this being an AR scope, no it's not. It does work well on them though. It also works well on lever guns and I would absolutely put one on a slug gun. I like that it's got a simple and clean duplex reticle.

I put one on an AR I just set up chambered for 7.62x39. Had my first range day this week. Worked perfectly for that setup. I would have no problem using it out to 300+ yards. My brother put his on an AR .223 and my buddy put his two on .357 and .44 mag. Henry lever guns.

Link to my range day post with a picture of the scope on the AR.

I have one on a Rem 788 222 Rem and another on a Savage 10 in 223, awesome little scope for called coyotes. Like others said, it is a solid 300 yard and in coyote scope for me. I've only killed one coyote with it but killed three coyotes last Thursday with a Leupold 1.5-5x20 on my 25-204 while javelina hunting and quite a pile of coyotes with 1-4x20 scopes over the years on bolt-action, lever actions and combo guns. 1-4x20/24 thru 1.5-6x40/42 are my favorite hunting scopes.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

$130 on Amazon. I like the spinning lense party trick, when a smidgen of recoil is added. If this was year 2000, this would be a $74 scope:
