That's the reasoning I've gotten in conversations about welfare in communities where it is a career. And it's across generations. It was more prevalent in one racial segment, but the last 35 years in my observation it has become more widespread. Working the system seems to be a career path in some quarters. Look close you'll see Jims kids have been getting subsidies, so he is teaching them how to play the system too. Generational welfare is generational welfare, whether it's ghetto or corporate or FARMER welfare makes little difference, it still boils down to people who didn't earn money putting their hands out and taking it from people who did. I see people bitch on here CONSTANTLY, LIKE EVERY FUUCKIN DAY CONSTANTLY about welfare bums. I see them give a rash of shyt to boomers for getting their SS payments, I've watched this fuuckin welfare bum Jim Conrad calling seniors irrelevant and giving boomers a rash of shyt for fuucking YEARS when here's the fuucking proof he's been taking money from them and living a better life because of it all along. No wonder he drinks like a fish, every person in his family has their own dirt bike and he buys new guns and ammo by the case for his kids all the time. It ain't hius money he's spending. Might as well blow it on booze and toys. What a miserable old queen you are. I'll start sending you rent checks shortly. Sometimes the truth hurts you fat, miserable bitch. But there it is. The truth! You are sweet. Post some pics of all the crap you brag about. All lies.

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

The wildest thing is...it's against the law for us to opt out of the program.
Maybe someday the govt will make it illegal for me to not use it for a bear hunt....but alas.

If you want to compare farm subsidies to welfare so be it. I'd rather give the money to some one working their ass off and trying to make things work verses some one not doing a damn thing in life besides taking and/or selling drugs. Amen Both my grandfathers and my uncle were farmers. Neither took any gov't handouts. They were proud, hard working men. I was there. I used to stay with them on weekends and for weeks on end during summer vacations. I saw how hard they worked. When I got older, I worked along side them. All day, every day. Later I worked and earned my living for two years as a full time farm hand. There wasn't time to be spent posting on the internet. To be fair, I don't believe they had an internet to post on. While farm subsides are real and sometimes ridiculous, I don't think you can compare them to welfare. The government, in all their wisdom, has decided to manipulate markets with massive subsidies. All in the interest of the farmer I'm sure...... Corn is the biggest funny money game. All of the subsidies that we see out here have to do with environmental regulations. (Tractor too big of a polluter. Instead of letting you rebuild it, they give you $30,000 towards a new $120,000 machine) Could have rebuilt the old one for $15,000 but we are saving the world here. No real common sense need apply.) Not sure the farmer is getting ahead in this scenario. Also, farm subsidy numbers can look huge to the average person but usually have a very small effect on the total operation. If anyone saw my outputs, they would be shocked.

so farmers doing a wise job of the subsidy game to some is like welfare or thievery. but really how's it any different than the rich man and a good accountant learning how to use the tax laws to their advantage..

So, if I take every tax deduction available to me I am "on the government dole" too?
I think the difference in generational farmers and generational welfare families is one side produces, the other side takes.

Well, like I said before...we are required by law to carry Federal Crop insurance.
We borrow money at 9 percent to buy the coverage. If we have a bad year, sometimes the payout is enough to pay the premium.
When there is no bad year, we just get to donate the tens of thousands of dollars to the insurance co....and still pay the interest to the bank.
As it stands, all the free govt money has cost us more money than it has paid.
Once you pay off your mortgage, you no longer are required to participate.
Most continue though....some of them even break even in the end.
So yeah, become a farmer.
But the real money is in banking.

If Alec Baldwin can make a $7.3m movie... literally kill someone in that movie... then write off the whole fiasco on his taxes...
A man taking $$$ from .GOV is somehow bad?

Look at the tobacco farmers .gov paid them not to grow it🤔 Same with wheat acres up here the 80s and 90s. Reagan paid farmers to store wheat to beat the Russians. Eventually that wheat had to be sold. So they came out with CRP to keep the price of wheat at about the breakeven level.

Every time I go to the diner and see an old boomers drinking coffee with their cheeseburgers, I die a little inside. It doesn't have to be this way.

Kinda funny to watch a whole bunch of self proclaimed ultra conservatives make excuses for different people taking handouts. I guess it's just a matter of who's getting whos money for what. Might be better if everybody just kept their hands in their own pocketbooks. And I don't see it as comparable for someone taking as many tax deductions as they can. Those folks are just giving less of the money they earned to the gov't, not putting their hand out to take money other people worked for and earned. On a side note, you apparently have to ask to receive senior discounts on meals/coffee when dining out, at least around here. We've never asked and it's never been offered. Maybe it's just our youthful good looks keeping people from thinking we're old enough to qualify.
