For those who own one of the newer Vanguard s2 models or, anyone who knows the answer. Should the rear tang be flush with the top of the stock? The reason I'm asking is mine sticks up maybe 1/8" above top of stock? I'm trying to figure out if that's normal or was the stock not inletted enough in that area. One thing for sure, the action screws were no way torqued to 35 inch pounds. If they were much looser they could be taken out with my fingers if, I could get ahold of them. Thanks!

This is a picture of my new Vanguard. It sticks above a little. Mine is torqued 35 in/lbs.

That's about how mine looks. I took stock off and lightened the trigger. The action screws in this one weren't much more than finger tight. After adjusting the trigger I torqued to 30 inch pounds. My FatWrench is kind of old so went 5lbs lighter just to be safe. I torqued the front first and then the rear. I appreciate you taking the time to check that!

No problem. I'm still waiting on rings and bases for mine. I probably won't get to the range for a couple weeks. I'd be interested in how yours shoots. Mine's in 30-06.

I've got to get a picatinny rail still. I think I've got a set of rings but not positive. I'll post the results after I shoot it. I'm planning to handload some rounds to try once I get it scoped. I've got some 168 gr. Hornady A max bullets I used on my Remington 700. I hope the Vanguard shoots as good with the A max over Varget combination.

I have 3 Weatherby S2 Vanguards, but they probably don't count with this question as I pillar and glass bedded their actions and the tangs now stick up less than 1/16" above their stocks.
