Now, now take it easy! My pops has one of those and it's good enough to keep Flinch from making fun of my other guns for awhile.

No offense were intended and that is an oft used barb in these parts.

The Pimp coined the term as applied to the 30-'06 in general and I thought this Thread were just tooooo juicy to pass up the quip.

Hope I didn't hurt an feelers,as that weren't my intent.............

What's wrong with the Marlin? Did I pick a looser? I know they didn't sell well, but everything I've read has been positive, Tom.

Tom,

In a nutshell,I'm too biased to give you an unbiased opinion,so I'll refrain...................

I'd pick the MR7 to conk fish in the head with,a Savage to drive tent stakes and a Remington 700 to kill critters with.

Just funny that way,I guess?!!?...................(grin)

If I could find a 700 classic in 35 Whelen I'd pick the 700 too!

Tom have you seen the winnie 3006 on page 2 of the classifieds. I know it not a 700 but not everyone can have them. Some of us have to buy Rugers and Winnie to keep everything in balance.

Tom:

There is a hardware store in Center Texas that has one new on the rack, in, I THINK, .30-06. They've got it somewhat discounted but its been about a year since I saw it, not sure it is still there, but I'll bet it is. I have to go in that direction before long, if you want me to I'll check on it, or email me and I'll look their phone # up. I can't remember the store name off the top of my head (no surprise)but I think it is an "ACE" affiliate.

Big Stick is usually on the money with most things, but he suffers seriously from 30.06 envy, but just can't admit it. Makes him mad that my ol' thutty ought six can kill anything his 300 Super can. He would be a fool to dispute that, but he just might prove himself the fool if provoked

Been tricking myself for over 20 years, tricked a semi load or two worth of critters as well. Hmmmm maybe it's no trick to put big game on the ground with a 30.06

Hey Tom, where about in So. Indiana? I was born and raised just north of Evansville in a small town called Haubstadt.
