I am going to buy my first AR and want one of the Stag Arms lefty ones, as I shoot left handed. Pretty logical. They offer ones that have a detachable carry handle. If I detach it, can I attach a sight or a rail on top instead? I am looking for versatility. Also with this rifle being left handed, is there any issues with aftermarket accessories? The magazine release is the same as a right handed rifle so normal magazines will work, I was just wondering if there is anything unexpected that I should know about.

When I detached the handles from both my left handed stag uppers they were attached to a pitcanny rail that is intergal to the upper.

Stag offers a real nice product. Unfortunately here in the broke State of Kalifornia I had to go with Fab10 Lowers. A fine product too, but sort of like taking a cousin to the prom. You miss some of the best parts of the experience.

Clint Smith looked the combo over and pronounced them servicable.

Which lefty Stag are you looking at?
The voices in my head are telling me that I need one of these.

Thanks, I didn't know DPMS had a left hand variation. I was searching gunbroker for examples. Does anybody else have any suggestions? I did a google search for left hand AR and mostly found accessories to make a rifle left hand freindly. I will have to start hitting the gunshops and get some of these actually in my hands.

Go to www.AR15armory.com and you will find all kinds of pictures and info about left handed AR's and Stags. I have several and they are true AR's in every sense of the owrd. The DPMS lefty's are a little different, for instance they do not have dust covers.

I bought my 11 year old lefty boy a left hand Stag Arms/Stag-15L Model 2L Pre-Ban rifle last year and we have made several range trips with it since. The rifle came from Stag Arms with an ARMS #40 BUIS. Their website shows they have changed from ARMS BUIS to a different maker:

Your lefty Stag will function identical to any AR variant, with the exception of ejecting the brass to the opposite side.

The A3 flat top picatinny rail allows you to remove any A3 carry handle sight and mount any number of optics along with a BUIS also.

The Stag Arms lefty upper has an ejection port cover identical to any other AR, just on the opposite side.

The factory Stag lower will have an ambi selector/saftey switch and there are now good quality after market ambi mag catch buttons available for the lower.

Great rifle that he really gets a charge out of shooting. Stag Arms builds a quality product IMHO.

A very reputable Dealer on ARFCOM, Legal Transfers, has left hand Stag Arms 2HL M4 uppers for $539.00 shipped. These are complete uppers and have all the features:

NATO CHROME LINED CHAMBER 1/9 twist
COMPLETE WITH BOLT GROUP
CHARGING HANDLE & Flip Rear sight
M-4 Handguards
Side sling adapter

I don't think you're going to beat Pete's prices and he only deals in quality manufactured items.

Here's a link to Pete @ Legal Transfers ad on ARFCOM .

And here's another pic to drool over a bit ..........

I and several friends bought the Stag #3 full flat top last year... Could not be more pleased. If you are looking for versatility the full flat top is the way to go.

We put an ARMS 14" SWAN rail on that has a built in flip-up rear sight and a Yankee Hill Machine folding front sight....that way you aren't having to look over the front sight with optices all the time.

I have a Burris Scout Scope in Warne medium QD rings on mine. Also a Docter type small dot sight I bought from Victor DeCossi over on the AR15 Board. When I want to shoot long range I just take them off and put on a 10 power Bushnell 3200 10 power MilDot scope.

If you want to see what your gun is really capable of try some of the Hornady 75 grain TAP ammo. 300 yard groups are running under 1.5".
