Remington to Acquire Marlin Firearms Deal positions Marlin and its various brands for growth
Was checking around the majors to see what new stuff they have coming out this year and ran across this on Remington's site. Couldn't even begin to speculate as to what changes we might see.

I have always wondered about a remington lever action...don't know if this will help it to happen. Maybe just more options for the Marlin.
Would like to see another American made modern lever rifle, like the model 88 with a better trigger, or a BLR with same.

This is interesting. Among the reading that I took to elk camp this year was an issue of Gray's Sporting Journal that included an article by Terry Wieland on Marlin Firearms. In the article, he attributed the staying power of the Marlin lever actions to the owning family's strategy of sticking with what they did best and not trying to diversify and grow fast to the extent that they diluted their quality control and marketing effort.
Remington seems to not know just who their customers are...

This doesn't sound like a good thing to me. Makes me want to buy up a few that I've wanted but put off buying as well while they are "real Marlins". Or maybe "pre '08 Marlin?"

That's funny. Hope they have better luck with that than AMC had with the G-Rremlin.

Rem won't mess with the Marlin lever guns. They may work on some new lever gun cartridges though.

Maybe they can work on a lever action conversion for the Remington 742's out there. Jam-o-matic to Lev-o-matic.
