Friend's and I blew up a dead tree one drizzly day, while prairie dog hunting in Kansas. Stuffed 10 LBS into a hollowed out knot hole. Shot it from about 200 yards, so no mishaps.
Drove down there to look at the pieces. There was a shell shocked rat walking around in circles. Now idea where he was when the blast occurred. Funny stuff.
Some guy locally set off like 50 pounds of it not far from a rural subdivision here.
That got all the city slicker hens clucking in a hurry.
They got on the local FB page complaining about it disturbing their peace... Then the rednecks chimed in about restricting their freedoms and the discussion deteriorated from there...
Set some logs in place, put a 5 gallon bucket on the logs and used a small jar of tannerite under the bucket to see how high up it would launch the bucket. Stood about 50 yards away, shot it, and didn't quite get the results we were expecting! Launched the logs about 20 feet and shredded the bucket like you used a potato peeler on it. Nothing came near us, so no mishaps, just some fun that had us thinking about going into town to get some more! But definitely more "bang" than expected for such a small jar (maybe quart sized).
It isn't what happens to you that defines you, it's what you DO about what happens to you that defines you!
Bought a bulk 50 lb bag some years ago from a co in Toledo OH for around 80 bucks. Broke it down in smaller sizes and had a lot of fun with it, one gallon size jug we felt the shockwave of the blast from above 100 yards away. Nothing was ever blown up. No control over what direction pieces part will fly. Should be a common sense concept.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Mornin, good use for blowing up beaver dams that are flooding roads etc. Easier than using fertilizer & diesel fuel. Don't need to find blasting caps. You used to be able to get them at the hardwear store if you were a farmer & you had to sign for them. On another note, we have two quarries nearby & there still not sure who stole the explosives but about a week later someone stuffed (to much) into the TD bank machine!!! Money & envelopes all over the street. I don't think even the guy that did it got a dime out of it. To scared & ran away. When they re-built it was built inside so they could lock it at night. Big talk in the small town of Coldwater. WPGGUY. πΎπ£π¨π¦
We HAD a target frame at our hunting club that consisted of two, vertical 4 X 4s and about 6β of 1/4β particle board between them to mount the targets. One of the guys taped a can with a pound or so of Tannerite on the back of the plywood and the a target on the front. This was the first day of the season and another guy showed up and needed to check his rifle. When he shot there was the expected explosion and the shooter looked up from the bench with a WTF? look and the only thing left standing in the target area was the 4 X 4βs. π
