I only put them up in the first place for the fact that both of my wife's brothers and some of their kids, wife etc all traveled up here(again) for Dutch Christmas.

And I had been drinking when I made the promise but I don't bitch out on drunk talk and got them up early December. Takes like two hours. I do it after work. The set is getting aged and several bulbs need replaced every year.

This chit would be a cakewalk if I was retired and or had weekends off work....lol

Face it, Sam - if you had weekends off, you'd have a real job - not be a cowboy, or farmer. laugh

It ain't july or August yet, and by then, why bother taking them down?

I did unplug them last week.

If by chance she (it's HER thing!!!) does take them down, it's never before March 30, and they go back up the day after Thanksgiving.

A bunch of nonsense! Except they are kind of nice when I have to pee off the deck at night in winter. Not that I need light to find things. Yet.

My dad use to burn the tree in his fireplace, a chimney fire now, and then.

I still have my Christmas tree up.... I just change out the ornaments to fishing lures and call it my fishing tree... whole lot easier than taking it down and putting it back up again... plus I like to sit in the living room at night with all the lights out and it on and surf the web... relaxing

One of my best memories as a kid is going to bed on Christmas Eve and my room was filled with all the colors of the lights on the outside of the house.

My Dad is 88 and still puts up his Christmas lights.
