This was a good friend of mine in Los Angeles. He "came home" from Vietnam, but Agent Orange killed him three years ago, no matter how he fought it. SEAL Team One.

I salute all of my peers with a very few exceptions. One is the dude that stole my camera when I was on the way home from Tour 1. Can't think of #2 at the moment.
I would like to send a gift to LBJ, but don't know how to ship things to Hell. It's only a dozen sticks of dynamite.
I am..........disturbed.

Dan, ditto to the guy who stole my honorary Green Beret during the bag inspection prior to boarding the Freedom Bird. I had been awarded it the night before, so it was right on top.
Got to meet him as a 14 year old at Ft Bragg. Mom was the Personal Secretary for the Commander of the Green Berets from 1966 to 1968, when my dad was stationed at Pope AFB, before going to Vietnam in June 1968.
he served 49 months over there.

Thanks to all you Vietnam vets. My brother in law dead from agent orange. And a couple high school buddies that came back in good physical condition, but never the same mentally.
Dale, in my books, I wrote that if you went to 'Nam sane you probably came home sane. That was almost correct. Because no matter how you went there, you did not come home unchanged.
PTSD has many shades of grey, and nobody is immune.
Don't know that I was sane or not upon return, that is for others to decide. What I came home with was little or no fear and a cold heart. It served me well in my following career as an enroute air traffic controller.
In the early years of that career I lived in the Miami area and Key Largo. Had occasion to pull a handgun 5 times and I don't recall that my heart skipped a beat. Fact of it is that two of those events had humorous conclusions. One jerk got out of my car while it was still rolling. Another drove into a phone pole. No, I didn't ask them if they felt lucky.
I am..........disturbed.
