I'll bite. How do you break a thumb opening a jar of kraut? What did you open it with?

The jars are too fat to get a decent grip on, and the lids are sealed on tighter than on any other product. The torque of trying to twist the list working against holding the fat jar from slipping puts a lot of stress on the jar thumb.

You could injur the first metacarpal ulnar collateral ligament. That hurts like a be-otch. Unlikely you would tear it which would be a surgical problem.

I remember the days there was not a jar lid I could not defeat in hand-to-hand combat.

Now I give it a go, but if unsuccessful, I use a bottle opener to put enough torque under the lid to pop the seal. Easy after that.

Hope you’re ok John.
