Well I just got my $480 Winchester Model 70 Supergrade in 30-06 back. In January I posted an ad on Aldeer that I was looking for a Model 70 Supergrade but I ideally didn’t really want a maple stock Gentleman sent me a message “Here’s my number, give me a call.” He proceeded to tell me that he had a brand new Maple Supergrade that has a snapped stock, I say what do you want for it, tells me $400 I immediately jump on it as I knew I could figure out a stock option later. At this point all I knew was that it was new but I didn’t know the production year. I call up Winchester, give them the serial to ask for the year it was made, they tell me it was made in 2022 and to send it in for a stock replacement. Head to the postoffice, send it off to their St Louis repair shop. That runs $80 with shipping&insurance Gun gets stuck in Montgomery, AL for 2 weeks,(I thought for certain it was stolen)before I started making a major stink. It arrived 2 days after me getting ugly. Originally it was supposed to arrive in 3 days. On the repair sheet, I made a note that I would love if they switched the stock to Walnut. Just got it back this morning. This is the first Winchester I’ve ever owned. I need to figure out what rings/scope I want to go with.

Extremely nice!!! Love the new stock. Looks like one of beretz's rifles..
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Wow, they didn’t just go with the standard claro walnut stock, they upgraded you to the French walnut with the nicer checkering. Sweet! If you don’t mind, what did they charge for the stock…or am I reading it right, that they didn’t charge?!?!

Well i'll be damned! Lovely rifle in the classic M70 chambering. Not some over fat thing with a bunch of letters after the numbers.

For $480.00 I was expecting to see a beater needing a lot of work. Great score.

If you don’t mind, what did they charge for the stock…or am I reading it right, that they didn’t charge?!?! I was not charged anything by Winchester. Prior to bases/rings & scope I’m at $480; $400 for the rifle with the busted maple stock and then $80 for the shipping. I wrote on the repair slip that I would like to upgrade to the AAA French Walnut and asked them call me with a price quote…never heard anything. Didn’t even realize this was the AAA French Walnut until this evening.

Probably one of the best deals I've seen in a long time.. New MSRP($2,209)+tax(9%) VS what I paid…80% off of retail. I took a gamble with it having the split stock that paid off big time.

Looks like the stock is from a Jack O’Connor tribute rifle.

I have one just like it. I took a 170 B&C with it last year. Excellent rifles.
