Damn! Sometimes it's nice to be lucky! She's a beauty and best all a round caliber you can get.
Good for you!!!

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Very nice! ………for a Winchester 😁

Hard to beat that deal. BTW it’s ok to remove that sticker on the barrel. 😊

Dad broke a Walnut Featherweight stock just like that when he slipped on the ice, the rifle landed on the top point of the stock, then dad landed on the rifle.

Dropped out of a stand or ATV incident is plausible as well.

Seller told me that is arrived broken, the rifle came with the original box.
Said that he was heartbroken and didn’t want to fool with it and said that the seller made it right with him.

DD's always look great, but a rifle that pretty deserves S&K's or Conetrols.. Just a suggestion, since you don't have much into it anyways..

When I was an FFL and ordering lots of guns, I would occasionally have the stock broken in shipping. This would occur if it was wood and just one single gun lightly boxed. If it was multi-guns and shipped with plywood around them no problems. Or if in a plastic gun case, all good. After lots of inquiry, I was told by UPS that their shipping equipment will sometimes bend the long guns and break the stock. This occurs as it moves on their conveyers and makes a sharp turn. The stocks are just the right length to get stressed at the pistol grip and that is where the breaks are. Just like the maple stock break.

This is the reason to disassemble before shipping if it’s an option. Reduces the overall length, and therefore the potential lever arm if the package gets stuck.

That, or use a good hardcase, in a good heavy cardboard box. I've had idiots ship rifles in a cardboard box, with newspaper padding. Scopes get broken, when packaged that way too. Even a cheap ($20) hardcase would be worth the extra effort there. The problem with separating stuff, is you run the risk of parts bumping into each other, causing damage. A rifle wrapped in bubble wrap, inside a hard case, inside a good cardboard box, with proper cushioning inside the box, is about the best option.

Great rifle! You made a terrific deal, and I congratulate you. I think these newer Super Grades are really well made rifles. Sure like mine.

Enjoy the heck out of that fine rifle. I'm looking forward to some range and hunt reports.

Whem I worked in a Gunshop, we shipped a stunning Weatherby Mark V custom shop rifle and it arrived with a broken stock.

When we recieved it back, the box was still unblemished indicating the carton had not sustained a heavy blow.

Further examination found 2 1 cent coins jammed into the corrugated end flap.

Some mongrel smashed the rifle on purpose and left his 2 cents on record.

In January I posted an ad on Aldeer that I was looking for a Model 70 Supergrade but I ideally didn’t really want a maple stock
Gentleman sent me a message “Here’s my number, give me a call.”
He proceeded to tell me that he had a brand new Maple Supergrade that has a snapped stock, I say what do you want for it, tells me $400
I immediately jump on it as I knew I could figure out a stock option later.
At this point all I knew was that it was new but I didn’t know the production year.

I call up Winchester, give them the serial to ask for the year it was made, they tell me it was made in 2022 and to send it in for a stock replacement.

Head to the postoffice, send it off to their St Louis repair shop. That runs $80 with shipping&insurance
Gun gets stuck in Montgomery, AL for 2 weeks,(I thought for certain it was stolen)before I started making a major stink. It arrived 2 days after me getting ugly.
Originally it was supposed to arrive in 3 days.

On the repair sheet, I made a note that I would love if they switched the stock to Walnut.

Just got it back this morning.
This is the first Winchester I’ve ever owned.

I need to figure out what rings/scope I want to go with.
