I had an add in a local swap guide here in Maine. Was looking for low power gloss Leupold. I was trading a Vortex Diamondback 3-9 and a Sig Whiskey 3-9. I got a text with a pic of a counterfeit Leupold. I was extremely rude in my response. Come to find out the guy didn't even know he had been duped and I apologized multiple times. In the end we met this afternoon and I ended up with his compact gloss 2-7 VARI-X. Please all be aware of this issue. MIL-DOT reticle is a big give away as well other things. Taller turrets, plastic power adjustment knob. Do some homework before buying any used/new Leupolds.
I walk around like I'm ok, but deep down inside, I wanna buy another gun.

Hmm, you should post a pic of it and show how/what the counterfeit parts/pieces look like.

Just out of curiosity, is it the same serial number as this one?

I did not see the serial number it was a picture of the whole scope and box in one pic. I could tell as I purchased a couple counterfeits off Gunbroker. They where both reputable sellers who refunded me 100% and paid return shipping.

I stopped by a shop in Virginia today coming back from a fishing trip. Looking through the rack is a Savage Axis in 6.5 creedmoor with a 4.5-15 ×50 leupold on top. $599 on the tag for the gun and scope. I had no interest in the rifle but the scope was cheap enough to flip the gun. Until I looked closer . I figured it was fake ,guy at the counter even said it was. No clue why it wasn't marked as a fake. Personally I wouldn't want that crap in my shop.

Several of them on eBay right now. Local gun shows have them and they tell you outright they are fakes.

I have reported them on EBAY and the answer is it doesn't violate our policy.

I have reported them on EBAY and the answer is it doesn't violate our policy. I had the exact same experience. Same answer. The last one was marked VX-2 where the serial number was and marked VX-II on the objective bell. Power ring was backwards. Taller turret caps.

I saw several at Wanemacher's in Tulsa last year. Commented to sellers that they were fakes. Not one of them removed them or admitted they were fakes. Buyer Beware

There are lot of fake Zeiss and Swarovskis out there as well. Have had guys bring both into the shop to be mounted. They're all giddy about their bargain purchases, until I burst their bubble.

If you look at all past a glance, the counterfeit Leupolds are pretty obvious.

The seller was shutdown just after I paid. Return address was fake and eBay claimed I didn’t return it my credit card company made good after the slime at eBay didn’t. Really had Chinese junk!
