Who buys em?
Seems like I see guys with a fistful of $1 scratches on job sites at lunchtime pretty frequently, got me to wondering how often people actually win. Obviously there are far more losers than winners, but it has to be working out for somebody who buys them, right?
Our lottery funds here in Virginia supplement the school budgets. I have a friend (Marco) that won a million... IIRC. You might know him from VAGT... Well that squares lol. Good for him!

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

I do not but there is the special place in hell for idiots who buy them, then sit there at the counter and scratch them off. Oh wow - won a buck - give me another and rinse/repeat while the line stacks up behind during lunch rush. Only stacks up if somebody doesn't tell him to get put of the way.
The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!

I remember that. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Indeed... Marco is a great friend to many.

I dated a girl several years ago and her mom, sister, and sisters BF were lotto junkies. Bingo, casinos, scratch tickets, lotto, etc. It felt like a sickness to me

MM and PB for me when the jackpots get over $500K.
PB is currently at an estimated $1.09B of generational wealth, maybe worth throwing $2 into the pot.

With a couple famous exceptions, they are purchased by the mathematically challenged. Poorer people tend to play disproportionately more; a self fulfilling prophecy of sorts.
The exceptions? Jerry and Marge, and the MIT lottery group. They mastered the math of particular games and took advantage. Those games have been discontinued, of course.

I know that the odds are impossibly long, but a $2 MM or PB ticket is less than $0.50 more than a large soft drink at McD's and somebody is going to win, so when the jackpot gets over $500K I buy a ticket.

Don't play them but the wife plays the regular lotto and she is ahead by about 300.00.
When the lotto first started here i played while stripping cotton in south Texas and won 480.00.
Have not played since.

The same self righteous azzoles who mock those of us who throw a few bucks away occasionally on a Powerball ticket will spend 10 bucks a pack on cigarettes or drink a case of beer a week. Do they think somebody will ever pay them millions of dollars to get lung cancer or liver disease?
Ignorance can be fixed. Stupid is forever!
