Any of you guys ever been on this medication? I’ve started taking it after being off of it for about one year, my leg muscles and hips are giving me a fit and thinking it might be from the meds.

I've been on it for years. I also have bad leg and hip pain. I never put them together. I'll be curious how others experience goes.

Statins can cause muscle pain, joints maybe not so much, but definitely muscles.

Myalgia is a common side affect of Lipitor. I was on it for a brief period and experienced the same sides as you have. I would suggest you contact your physician and request a two to three week holiday off the Lipitor, and then resume with Crestor (rosuvastatin). I've had no issues with that med.

I've been on it for 23 years and fortunately have had no issues, although I have heard others having problems similar to yours.

I had cramps and muscle pain, and my Doctor told me to quit asap. Statins are worse on you than the cholesterol as far as I'm concerned. Tell you doctor soon.

I have been on it for ten years now and yes muscle pain and weight gain are expected side effects. Seems like it gets worse right after a dosage change and then either fades away or I’m just used to it now

My doc started me Lipitor but I had muscle aches and he switched me to Crestor. No problems since then. My wife had no problems with Lipitor. Tell your doc if you’re having problems.

Some research indicates statins may be doing their thing more as an anti inflammatory. So lowering cholesterol may not be the real reason for its success. DF

I've been on Simvastatin for over 20 years.... didn't notice any more aches/pains at the time - now I figure it's just probably "old age".

I've been on it for almost 6 yrs (took simvastatin before). Cardiologist put me on it after I had a blocked artery that needed a stent, so he wanted a more aggresive statin. Started me on 40mg a day, had me come in for a check after 3 weeks and asked about side effects/cramps/muscle pain. It wasn't bothering me so he doubled it to 80mg/day. I get occasional leg cramps (sometimes weeks apart or more), most likely from dehydration and/or exertion, haven't seen any correlation with the meds.

Yep. I took it for10+ years. Finally could not do it anymore. Cardiologist put me on Repatha. An injectable. I am suppose to take 2x /month.Once keeps me at abut 165 on my cholesterol.
If you think statins are bad, wait until you have stroke from high cholesterol. Diet and exercise won't get it lower if your body puts too much out. BTDT

Statins are famous for leg pain.
A vitamin supplement CoQ10 is nearly mandatory when using statins. I bought 100mg first & not enough. The 200 mg did the trick.
But even though I got the hell away from statins, I still keep CoQ10 around for when I have restless leg or similar. Have one in front of me now to take in a few minutes.

Lipitor gave me pains in my arm muscles. I quit and they went away after a couple weeks. If it's joint pain, it's not the Lipitor. That causes pain in the muscles themselves. Sometimes its hard to tell the difference.

Ditto on the cramps and muscle pains. Repatha injection once every two weeks works much better, and I don't have to take huge doses of Tylenol to be able to be pain-free enough to sleep now.
