I was on it for a short while. Made me feel off colour, and took away my libido quite sharply. Stopping it reversed those effects.
I had no particular issue with cholesterol either, and a low-carb diet and daily fish oil keeps the numbers in spec. I think that my doctor looked at me and figured "middle aged man, a bit overweight" and put me on the stuff regardless. Mind you, dropping a bit of weight and exercising more has done me a power of good, much more than any of these meds ever seemed to do. YMMV.

I been on it for about 4 years. I do have issues with cramps and leg soreness. Myself or my old doc never put the two together. My doc is retiring in a month and I have found new guy so I am going to hit him up with the question.

Any of you guys ever been on this medication? I’ve started taking it after being off of it for about one year, my leg muscles and hips are giving me a fit and thinking it might be from the meds. Took it for a few weeks, but my wife said it effected me mentally/cognitively (mixed up words... stopped finishing sentences... kinda thing). Doc concurred and I stopped.
If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

If you're taking statins and are experiencing muscle pain you need to talk to your doctor as the problem can become permanent and disabling.

Can it cause tendon weakness, susceptibility to injury? I'm dealing with a torn Achilles, have to wear a damned boot. I'm going to ask my doc about it at my next appointment. Been assuming it's old age, just worn out.

For any side effects, it's part of what is keeping me alive.

I was on it for a long time for me it was excruciating. I developed gout and Rhabdo. Switched to two other statins with the same affect. Some people cannot take statins, some have no problem. If you have familial hyperchholesterimia there are options but talk to your doctor about it; Ezetimibe may be an option.

I’ve been having a running argument with my doctor, and more recently with the cardiologist that did my pre-op evaluation, over going back on a statin. My total cholesterol is high, but my ratio is good. Statins made me tired and achy, which means they were affecting my liver. I had a calcium scan which showed zero calcium deposits in my heart. No one in my family on either side who didn’t smoke and/or have Type 2 diabetes ever have a heart attack, and none had a stroke, ever. Despite all that and me being totally asymptomatic for any heart problems, they just keep picking the scab.
I’ve lost over 45lbs, my A1C is stellar. They need to lay off. As I told the cardio doc, I’m 72, what happens, happens. I’m not trading my healthy liver for a potential benefit.

Statins are hell on your body. all the muscle/bone problems are difficult. they lower testosterone. they can cause erectile dysfunction. they cause insulin resistance.....leading to diabetes. they cause hair loss. They are a factor in dementia.
And a some other things.
I believe they are one of the worst drugs on the market.
Look to your diet and lose weight to lower cholesterol.

For once, I read the warning sheet, probably a good thing as after the second pill. I woke up from my nap because my lips were getting numb, first sign of big trouble. That was the end of that lab rat experience…

My doc hounded me to go on the stuff, and I had to go off of it after 8 months. The effects were not immediately identifiable, but in retrospect, it was a real faceplant moment--- what was I thinking?
The first thing I noticed was a general malaise that I chalked up to old age coming on.
What finally got me to go off was that it had affected my A1C badly, and I'd tried everything to make it go back down. I finally wised up and stopped taking the statin and the A1C was down to normal in 2 weeks.

I've been on it for years. I also have bad leg and hip pain. I never put them together. I'll be curious how others experience goes. Me too, I was on it for a few years, I lost weight and tried to eat healthier. I quit all my meds. My PA got me back on statins. Three months and leg and hip home pains were back. I quit all prescription meds.

I was on Repatha for 4 years. Last Oct. my lips swelled up and skin started peeling off of my lips. Then the mouth around the lips went numb. Cardiologist said the Rpbatha didn't cause it. finally went to family doctor for help. Asked if I had any allergies first. I said nothing new. As soon as we went over medications and Rapatha came up doc. said thats it. Doc said he has seen a lot of the same conditions. Some so bad that one patient mouth had turned to mush. So be very careful using Rapatha.

All y'all know that you're just drillin' holes in the bottom of a foundering boat, to let the water out, with this poison.
You know that, right?

I quit taking it due to all the side effects mentioned. I read up on it more and it has more negative than positive in my opinion. Cardiologist disagrees but meh.
Good Shooting!

GR Sometimes. Often it’s just how God put you together. P
Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.
