...... the Barnes .224 45gr TSX on Pronghorn? All the Pronghorn I've taken were with the .25-06 or a 50cal muzzleloader. This year I want to hunt with a .22-250. I've taken several heads of game with TSXs in larger calibers and they've worked well.

Not the 45 TSX, but Eileen killed a mature doe a few years ago with the 40-grain Cutting Edge Raptor (a similar bullet) at 150 yards with her then .22-250, a Savage Axis. The doe was quartering toward us, so Eileen aimed just inside the near shoulder, and at the shot the doe collapsed. Found the rear of the bullet under the hide at the rear of the far shoulder.

Might also mention that we'd pre-tested the load on jackrabbits and coyotes. Muzzle velocity was around 4400 fps.

Since then Eileen has switched to a 1-8 twist Tikka .22-250 and the 70-grain Hornady GMX, another monolithic but a hollow-point--which Hornady has since changed to the "tipped" CX bullet. Muzzle velocity is around 3300, and she's taken several deer and antelope with it at ranges out to 300 yards, no problem.

Never used that bullet but have shot many many deer with 22-250’s using sierra 55psbt and hornady 55&60gr sp. they all worked without issue and are a lot cheaper than the Barnes.

My one and only antelope hunt I took my favorite 22-250 loaded with 60gr hornady sp but the scope got bumped off and I ended up using a borrowed rifle. But am positive it would have worked very well.

Killed a small buck whitetail with 223 Rem using 45gr TSX.
Found under the hide on off side after passing thru the chest.
Ran about 40 yards.

I have a box of either the 53 or 55 grain TSXs I could part with (don't remember which). PM me if interested

I would be interested in how much belt expansion and head expansion you are getting with those loads.

Thanks guys. The 1-14 twist in my Ruger M77RS limits heavy/long bullets, as you all know. I have three boxes of the 45gr TSX. So, time to work up a load and shoot it to see if it will be accurate. Books say I should be around 4000fps with it.

If you think either is a valid measurement of "pressure," then you're mistaken.
