How rare or how many were made of the Ruger No.1 in 44mag and the Ruger No.1 in 7.62x39?

I sold a NIB .44 on GB for a customer a few months ago. Took a couple cycles before it sold, but it brought 2K. He bought it new from us when they came out for around $1400.

A couple of recent sales on GB with prices like that have me thinking about listing my 44. It's still NIB and has very nice wood. Hopes of hunting lower MI some day suggest keeping it, although I have other options that are legal there.

Rare and desirable are two very different things.

Hopes of hunting lower MI some day suggest keeping it, although I have other options that are legal there. Think long and hard before you let something like that go. Spending a bit for something special is often worth it, but it’s also true that letting something you really like go simply because you’ll turn a good profit can be a mistake. Some years back I paid the most ever for a NIB Browning Low Wall .44 because it just called to me. After shooting it a fair bit I could probably get my money back and more, but would that really be a wise move? Owning something like that is a pleasure; shooting and hunting it is something over and above…..
What fresh Hell is this?

My .44 never did shoot especially well, and then on top of that, the 20" barrel never did look right to me. The 7.62x39 has been sold in a couple different variations. The stainless and walnut versions usually command a collector premium, especially if NIB with nice wood. The blued steel & walnut versions usually have very plain wood, and don't bring that much money. They are a good practical shooter though, because you can obtain higher velocities than in an AK, and they can easily handle 150gr bullets, too. Mine also shoots well.

There is a NIB .44 mag Number 1 on GB right now ( Ruger # 1- 44 mag ) for anyone interested. Not mine FYI.
