Corpus Christi Crónica 1h· A Massive Explosion has occurred on Akal Bravo Maritime Platform Multiple Fatalities and Injuries have been reported off the coast of Campeche, Mexico. Unconfirmed reports suggest that 11 people have died, with 8 of them being from the company that worked for Pemex, and numerous others injured. I know very little about off shore oil rigs, but does anyone know if they usually keep high explosives on the rig for drilling purposes??

L.W. No they're not kept onboard rigs. They are shipped out and used by companies that 'perforate the casing' [blow holes through the casing] when the engineers think they are in the crude oil. Which lets crude enter the casing. Wishing the workers well- hard working men. Most people don't know and some don't believe the kind of pressure involved in Well Drilling. Mention 15,000psi and they think you're a crazy-iggMo.
