That is not the engine code. Can you get that?

VVT-i means variable valve timing

This is not the motor

Taco trucks came with two different V6 motors

4.0L and the newer 3.5L

Of course too the 4 banger

What year is the truck you’re looking at ?

This is a 2011 Tacoma, 4 wheel drive. So I am thinking it is a 6 cylinder. I think the 4x4s came with 6 cylinders. But I have not confirmed that yet.

So, what is it worth as a run around outfit?

Super low mileage and pretty clean.

$10,000 to $30,000.
And I'm not just being a wiseass, you haven't provided any where near enough information for a decent price guess.

An 11 sr5, 5 speed 4wd extended cab. Well under 100k miles.

Clean but not immaculate. Cloth interior. Nothing fancy.

That's a $17,000.00 truck in this area. Assuming no rust at all? The standard transmission and 4 CYL reduces value slightly. Should make a good grocery getter in inclement weather though.. I prefer the 4.0, for more power and about the same MPG.. Plus the 4.0 is one of Toyota's most reliable engines made..

You can probably narrow it down to $15-20,000 depending on local market and details on mileage, rust, maintenance history, accidents, etc.

2nd Gen.......2005-2015.....great trucks

Nuthing wrong with the 4 banger...depending on your uses of course

No powerhouse we know that

Although after having two Taco 4.0L V6...one auto the other a 6 sp manual

They're no power house either......run forever though

Check KSL for price ideas

On par with the 22R engine for reliability?

We have a couple Toyota trucks, and our neighbors all run Toyotas, plus one of our neighbors is a mechanic familiar with Toyotas.

First, the 92 had the 3.0, which might have been Toyotas worst truck motor (in the US anyway). Even then, it went 199,000 miles before it blew up. It got replaced with a 3.4, which has a reputation for more power and far better reliability. It runs great and should be a great motor upgrade.

The 2009 has the 4.0 with 167,000 miles and it is a bullet proof engine so far. It has more power but I can't stand the automatic transmission they stuck behind it. The truck sounds like it's vomiting when you accelerate. But it does accelerate. LOL I've heard the 4.0's are not rebuildable but I haven't researched that claim. Seems dubious to me.

The new 3.5 does ok in my friends truck. Not a powerhouse but not a dog.

3.5 uses a cartridge type filter rather than a spin on. (A giant step backwards IMO.) Filter housing is some type of plastic. I replaced the plastic housing with an aluminum one. Front skid plate has to be removed to change filter. Motivx makes a nice housing wrench kit to make changing filter less messy.

I had a 2016 with the 4 cyl. and the manual trans and hated driving it as it was way underpowered at about 140 hp. My wife's Subaru Forester in comparison has about 184 hp... I traded the 2016 for a 2020 with the 3.5 (278 hp.) 6 spd. manual. Much better...
