Looks like a C-130 or C-17 firing all their flares normally used to decoy heat seeking missiles.

Looks like a C-130 or C-17 firing all their flares normally used to decoy heat seeking missiles. I thought that the flares dropped away..... Otherwise don't they increase the het signature of the aircraft?
