I've owned a number of Win 70s over the years, many with barrels by Shilen, Douglas and others. I'm looking at a Proof carbon barrel for a Win 70 and I'm wondering if the cylinder size is appropriate for a Win 70 receiver, the Proof cylinder is 1.2". I understand I could ask my smith but undecided at this point who I will employ to do the fitting. Some may think this is sacrilege for a Win 70 but it's probably the only way I'll end up using this particular rifle.

Thanks in advance!

1.2 is just fine. This means, while disgusting on many levels, the barrel should work fine on your Model 70. GD

I understand your disgust but it's the only way this rifle will see any use these days, have not hunted with it since I replaced the barrel (#3 for this rifle) and stock. Stock and barrel will be in classifieds eventually.
