Hello to all the trappers out there! now that the weather where I live is warming up considerably, last night coming back from checking traps, I noticed my lures and baits in the back of the truck a lot more, I put them into a upright freezer I have in my garage. also calving season is almost over here as well, so I'm not really needing to nuisance trap for predators as well. do you store baits and lures in freezers? what about Urine and other lure liquids? do they keep or go bad? and do you dedicate a specific storage locker/fridge/ freezer to such things to keep them from ruining anything else your similarly keeping?

I'm not a "pro" trapper I've never kept any of my baits or lure in refrigerators or any of that. I don't have it in temperature extremes, but I don't give it any special care either. I might be completely wrong in doing that. I don't know. All the bait I've made was preserved with sodium benzoate, and left to stop any taint. Then I put whatever bait solution in and mix it up well and let it sit for a couple of weeks and stir it all up and let it sit. Repeat etc. I just put up 2 gallons in some glass jars not too awful long ago. They're in a dark closet away from excess heat and cold. All my baits smell the same to me for as long as the jar lasts, I guess because of the preservative. The urine also has a preservative, and still smells pi$$y to me all the way through the bottle.
If you have any bait recipes that don't involve expensive or hard to get ingredients, I'd appreciate if you'd post

I keep mine in my reloading room in the house. Nobody but me goes in there. I have bait in 1 gallon jars. Some in 1/2 jars store in there. Plus 100+ 1 oz bottles of lures. I keep the window covered. House temperature not in the sunlight. I try to buy my bait in 1 gallon jars. Cheaper that way. And easier to store too.
