I have a friend who is a Chinese immigrant. He is a surgeon and a board certified anesthesiologist. He said when he got settled in the US, the first thing he did was go out and buy some guns. He's not into hunting, shoots very little, but by God, he's got some guns. He said to me once, "In China, no one is allowed to have guns except the police and the military, but the criminal gangs have all kinds of guns, even machine guns and such things as grenades. There are areas controlled by the criminal gangs where the police do not go." He went on to tell me that he has a cousin who is a career army officer over there and who has only been allowed to fire a gun a couple of times, only a few rounds.
