Need a 3000 watt (+or-) generator for sump pump back-up. Maybe also power fridge or freezer. Anything out there as good or cheaper than a Honda ? Only for temporary use. Don't need a basement flood. Been there not fun. Thanks

I just researched this. In the end, went with the Honda EU3000IS. My local dealer price matched the cheapest online price. It's not light, but I purchased a wheel kit off Scamazon (cheaper than Honda's) and that improved portability. Got for home essentials backup and portable power at farm, and it should excel at both.

I'm happy with my Wen, less than half the price of a Honda and appears to have copied much of Honda's technology.

I bought a predator 8000 and it was not a good generator. I went back to using my old Coleman and it’s been phenomenal. I have a new Wen 2300(?) but haven’t brought it up north yet.

I went Honda also, they aren't the only generator but they are good and that counts when it needs to.
I have a couple friends that run a pile of generators and they both agreed.

Honda for reliability, service and parts. If you have any computers, other digital devices or appliances with digital controls you should get an inverter generator. Voltage variation in portable generators may fry chips on control boards. Inverter generators have constant voltage.

Champion is a good generator been having mine 3500/4000 since 2008 hasn't let me down yet. Thinking about upgrading to a bigger one researching another Champion the Westinghouse has got my attention also.

I bought a Generac inverter for use at our off-grid cabin, it probably has over a thousand hours on it now. It's lasted longer than I thought it would and still going strong, the only thing that has broke has been the starter rope once. I'm pretty anal about oil changes and only run non-ethanol rec gas

I've heard good things about Wen, but went with Champion. I actually needed power in two locations, so have a 3500 watt 120V inverter, and a 7500 watt 240V inverter. Both have run flawlessly over the past couple years. The first year they were in constant use supporting an off grid life, this last year was only during power outages. Zero issues. I run regular gas with ethanol (not paying $10/gallon for no-alcohol 100+ octane race fuel, the only zero alcohol fuel available in the area) but run the carb dry and turn off the fuel valve.

I went with a WEN... Mainly because their prices are reasonable and a big plus is many of their inverter gen sets have a fuel shutoff which for me is a necessary feature on any small 4 stroke air cooled engine... WEN -- Inverter GeneratorsWEN -- Generators

Predators have a good reputation for the price range. I'd try to get an inverter type if you don't need a 240v outlet.
