Much like the long running Netflix thread - thought a long running reading thread might be interesting for recommendations and reference.
So what are you reading now and what's on deck? (my stack of TBR is almost a fire hazard these days)
Now - Across the Fence. The Secret War in Vietnam by John Stryker Meyer MACV-SOG book. Pretty good so far, worth reading easily.
Next - RECCE Small Team Missions Behind Enemy Lines by Koos Stadler Special Operations stories from a guy in the South African National Defense Force for 30 years, time in 5 Reconnaissance Regiment. Things he did/what happened in the border war along Namibia and Angola against SWAPO.

Surprise, Kill, Vanish, The Secret History of CIA Paramilitary Armies, Operators, and Assassins, by Annie Jacobson
This is an absolutely fascinating book about how the CIA was formed from OSS operators after WW II, and its assassination teams who operated all over the world. Some very interesting information how they operated in Vietnam, working with U.S. Special Forces (Green Berets), and one of their fiercest warriors and soldiers, Billy Waugh, Special Forces, Airborne.
If the "clandestine" world is of interest to you, you'll not be sorry you either bought a copy or got one on loan from your local library.

Anything by Cormac McCarthy and Jim Harrison.
More than a few movies spun off of their authorship.

Finished Chaos by James Gleick, for now anyway. Moving on to: https://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/20-843It is interesting that the decision is based on 14th amendment issues. Should be considered required reading here, along with your state's Constitution.

Little over half way on this, To Risk It All . On deck is “Double Canister At Ten Yards”, which is about the Federal Artillery and the repulse of Picket’s Charge. Reon
