What is the most desirable prefix for 700 rifles? I hear folks talk about it, but I’m curious why you choose the one you prefer?

I wouldn’t necessarily say desirable, but my gunsmith prefers the RR prefix opposed to others.

Maybe desirable is wrong word. Why don’t prefer the RR?

I see what you did there! I know where several are for sale in new condition. They are just priced high!

C is my preferred and they all shoot great, in my view better than A or B

While not as slick and smooth as the earlier made ones, they shoot just as good and maybe even better.

I especially like the ones that start with a numeral, not a letter. If I see a 700 with pressed checkering on a rack, I will look at it and fondle it - if the price is right it goes home with me.

I have A, B, C & RR. I like them all actually. (Exceptions though)

I think that when RR came out, Remington used more computer control and were the most consistent/accurate dimensions.

Of the A, B & C are concerned I think the C prefix is the most desirable by some Remington guru’s I know. I’m not sure that I can detect differences.

I like the original Walker trigger the best. Walnut = best, blued finish = best

The least desirable for me are the rifles with the early synthetic stocks and the ones with the j-lock firing pin and the very worst = rifles with the detachable magazines (detachable magazines = yech!)

I prefer classic.
