This rifle was put together 3-4 years ago for an article in
Handloader magazine. It was built on a Remington 700 BDL action that's old enough to for the safety to lock the bolt down, a 24" Shaw stainless "Remington sporter" contour barrel with a 1-8 twist, and a Stocky's Stocks Model 50 Long-Range Carbon Fiber stock--which includes synthetic bedding blocks at the front and rear of the action. (Shaw also "blueprinted" the action.)
Length of pull is 13.5" to a Limbsaver recoil pad. The scope is a Trijicon AccuPoint 3-9x40 with a yellow center dot, and ballistic dots on the crosshairs. The mounts are Burris Zee Signatures, on steel Burris bases. With the scope and bases the total weight is eight pounds.
When I got the rifle no 6mm-06 dies were in stock anywhere, and getting some made would take months and cost a bunch. Instead I used an RCBS .25-06 full-length die for a "body die," a Redding 6mm Creedmoor sizer to squeeze down the neck, and a .243 Winchester seater to seat bullets. This worked well, and of the 10 loads worked up with bullets from 55 to 115 grains, eight grouped 3 shots under an inch to down a little over 1/2" at 100 yards. The other two loads grouped just over an inch. (Sometime after that I sold my 6mm Creedmoor and its dies, and then substituted a Hornady "universal" 6mm neck-sizing die, which also worked well.)
Am asking $695 shipped for just the rifle, and $995 for the rifle with scope and mounts. The .25-06 "body die" and Hornady 6mm neck-sized will be included, along with a copy of the article with the loads, along with over 50 Quality Cartridge 6mm-06 cases.
