Is anyone loading hot 9mm ammo with heavy bullets? What powders seem to work best?

hot and heavy 9mm loads are used a lot as 9 major in action shooting. usually the twist rate is too slow to use anything heavier than 147 gr. . I have a Barsto 1/14 I use for 160 RN cast for that purpose . Usually a Brownell reamer is used to make sure the chamber is correct and relieve the edges of starting lands . Think Weatherby. I have a LW 1911 that shoots 147, 125, and 90 into the 357 Sig range. Good carry gun. Have best luck with Long Shot, but Im sure any powder in this burn range would work. Sometimes you will have to work with the springs. And be sure to use small rifle primers. Haven't had good luck with striker guns. If you go that route, start by replacing the MIM extractor with a Lone Wolf. Springs are really sensitive, remember that the striker works against the recoil spring, and if full lock doesn't happen, you'll blow a frame or two. Ask me how I know.

147gr XTP over 6.0gr Power Pistol.
1368 fps in the Ruger PC Carbine. I haven't chrono'd it in the pistols.

I got banned on another web site for a debate that happened on this site. That's a first

Hmmm, either you left out a lot or you are full of [bleep].

9 major shouldn't be shot in normal carry guns it's fine in a fully supported barrel. If you need 9 major get a 357 sig or better yet a 357 magnum if the old Magnum won't do it .35 Remington then.
Bangflop! another skinning job due to .260 and proper shot placement.

Heavy load of HS-6 is a winner here.

Don't know about hot, but, iirc i got near a 170 power factor number with 147gr coated hard cast at 1151 fps over Longshot from 5" 1911 9mm, Starline brass, CCI spp, brass landed 4-6 feet off right shoulder, very smooth shooting accurate load.
