Took off today, just sitting here wasting time. My wife and daughters are out
getting themselves beautified. In a bit we go to the church and get the food prep taken care of, last night we decorated up there until late.

Tomorrow, I have to take that walk.
The one that's made me misty just thinking about for the last 21 years.

I'm gonna shake hands with a good young man, solid Christian, worker,
hunter and obsessed fisherman. (I like him.)
Then I have to give away one of the most important things I've ever done, or had.

Her cat, who usually only plays with me, jumped on me and laid down purring.
I think he senses my mood. Really wish I hadn't started this post, it's getting worse, not better.

What a puss!
Wouldn't post it, but to hide it would be even more pussified.

Gonna be glad for the craziness tomorrow, but I'm dreading the drive home tomorrow night.

That's a rough one and a parents worst nightmare.. As for me, I have one daughter. We raised her in a Christian family. She just wants to see the world. Five weeks after graduating from College, she takes off to teach in Taiwan for 3 yrs. Then 6 yrs . In Cairo, Egypt. She married a Guy from Lebanon . We find out through a message from facebook that she got married... I like the Son In Law . He is pretty decent. He is an Arab, but very western . Even eats beacon.

But the fruits of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law. Galations 5: 22&23

Jim,

Pot luck as in the meal?

No, we are having cowboy beans, with pulled pork, green beans and ham, meatballs and pasta, fried chicken, deviled eggs, and a bunch of woman stuff. Fruit, veggie trays.....doing everything but the bird, that's coming from the gas station my wife runs.
The beans were requested by the.....him! The meatballs by my father in law who left us during the planning stage.
Oh yeah. A potato bar!
Since she was a little girl she loved potatoes, and said she was going to have a potato bar at her wedding. So there will be scalloped and mashed, and toppings to choose.

Only 60 odd people, all our church basement can hold.
They are planning a big potluck picnic for June.
Sort of an after reception for the whole famdamily to get together.
Her father in law is raising the porcine guests of honor right now.

Yeah, low rent Appalachian trash.
Nobody will talk for months about the production put on.
If two decent kids get hitched and have a good life, that's
all we need.

I know.
And I'd bet 125 pieces of good gas station chickum that you've read enough
to know that "cheap bugger" isn't wrong!

Enjoy the heck out of them, Jim.
14-16 years doesn't seem to be moving fast.
Then...
WHAM!
How in thee hell did we get here? I'm teaching her to drive and she graduates
in a year!

Early on, I thought my son-in-law was a sorry SOB.
Then he carried on, and has made me proud of him - and how he's raising the grandkids.

Gotta cut 'em a little slack, Dad!

I took that walk with my daughter in 1999 and now she and her hubby have two granddaughters in college. They’re all girl but both of them have shot deer bigger than any I’ve shot. My son and DIL have the third granddaughter and she isn’t far behind them.

Congrats, cousin! That is awesome news.

I’m sure both you and her have quite a few more trips and moments together. Who knows, before long ya might just have another generation to introduce to the old ways.

Having a couple boys, I can’t imagine what it’d be to hand off a daughter. Sounds like she did good though.

Congrats and Hellos to the fam from all of us!
