RIP Dickie.

One of the best,,, maybe over shadowed by Dwayne. Wondered sometimes if he was as good or better. Seemed he never backed down in a duel.

Hard to tell since Duane never lived much beyond puberty. I am amazed one band could have had two guitarists of such caliber. I hate Duane didn’t live to a ripe old age, but am thankful for what they recorded while he was here. All man Brothers was likely the best southern rock bands of all time. I doubt that caliber of music will ever be recorded again.

Southern rock is the best!!!

Saw them and Dickey Betts Band a few times. I the sons tour as the Allman Betts Band. Some good videos on YouTube. Dickey’s son looks like him, lanky with a hat and mustache.

Here they are with Billy Strings sitting in with the band.

Eat A Peach Mr. Betts.

Back in the 90s when Betts was off his rocker and got arrested, they recruited Zakk Wylde of all people to sit in for a show. I have a bootleg of it. As much as I love Wylde, the show was absolutely horid. Not even remotely a good fit. Les Paul stacked with EMGs with a SD1 and chorus, ruined about every song. I will say, Wyldes Pride and Glory work was stellar at the time. Wonderful album.

Saw him with Great Southern in about '77.

Good show as I remember. I may have been somewhat "compromised".

I listen to a lot of Dead. 6/10/73 is a grand show. Third set, Dickey and Butch sat in and it’s like a mini Allman Brothers show. Just his guitar sound and soloing you can tell it’s him.

Saw him a couple of times late 70's, early 80's[I think? as I was more than 'somewhat' compromised]
Both with and without ABB

We see Warren Hayes a couple of times each summer at a local festival. he always does something like starting a song off like it's going to be Sweet Melissa then it kicks into something different.
I guess as a tribute to those guys.

Gregg was to perform at the same festival several years back, it wound up being the first event he cancelled before he died.
They put a group together last minute to fill in the Headliner slot, Warren lead the way with others that were still there[it's a 5 day festival].
It was a hit.
They've done it every year since, with Warren leading the 'band'.

RIP Mr Betts. Rambling Man has always been my favorite ABB tune.

Saw him perform once with Hank jr.
He flat tore up that old red Gibson Les Paul !
