Congratulations sir. Been there for just over 3 years. Grew up on a farm and was working from 8 yo.

Now see if you can get that honey do list taken care of. Mine never seems to get shorter. 🤔

Congratulations it has been over five years ago I retired. I miss the people but not the job or admin types. RZ.

Congratulations and best wishes for a looooong and healthy retirement. I bet you're going to love it.
I'm 4 1/2 years into mine. I'll never forget driving home after my last day. It felt like 1,000 lbs. had been lifted off my shoulders. I accomplished my first goal of learning how to sleep in the first week. Now it's golf, camp, trap & skeet and quality time with my lab.

I've worked nights for almost 20 years now, so I know how you feel. I've got 5 1/2 years left before I call it quits.
I do prefer the nights though and wouldn't have made it this long if I worked days with all the management folks.

I planned to retire about a year ago but I wound up staying. I did give up my exit "package" by leaving before April 2025 but I don't care.
I've spent 25 of the last 28 years on 3rd shift. I am ready to live during normal hours.
I turned 60 in November and have planned and worked towards this for a loooonnngg time. It's almost been surreal today, but it sure feels good!!!!

What was your career?
US Navy 4 years, Custom cabinet builder, certified pipe welder, then Comm. college for Machinist/tool and Die work, then Industrial Mechanic.

I've had a couple job offers already LOL, I told them I didn't want a job !

I'm going into my 11th year of retirement, through careful planning I was able to retire 2yrs. before the gov't. said I could. Retirement is the best job I've ever had, none of the workplace BS and no driving in rush hour traffic, snow or ice either. Never bored I've always got a project going, I hunt, fish and shoot whenever I want to.

Excellent -- big congratulations to you. Enjoy the days to their fullest. Do not lose track of co-worker friends and make a bunch of new ones.

I have been out for 7 years and the first 2 were a bit of an adjustment.

Now that the adjustment to daily routine is in place I wish I would have stuck with my original plan and went 3 years earlier.
