Looking for a scope under the $300 range to mount on a Ruger m77 Hawkeye 270 for whitetail hunting. Max yardage is 300 but most often it is within 150. I don't care about illumination, parallax adjustment because I've used neither and I'm afraid if I ever use them, I will have to buy all new scopes for the fleet lol. I like a simple duplex reticle but not against a BDC type as long as it is not too busy.
I have a 3x9x50 Burris E1 that has always served me well. Do I get the "upgraded" Fullfield IV, buy another E1 or look at some other options?
The Sightron S1 g2 series caught my eye. How do they compare to the Burris? For $50 more do I spring for a leupold vx freedom?
What do y'all think?
Thanks, Eric

Between the two, Sightron. If for no other reason than as I type, the news cycle is filled with reports of China planning a major cyber attack on us. The FF4 is made in China. Don't fund China's cyber attack.
Look at the Burris Droptine line. They are made in the Philippines. I have two, and the have been great, despite comparatively mushy turrets.

You can still get a tried and true Burris Fullfield II off of Amazon. But the Sightron is a nice scope too. For $160, the FF2 seems like a better deal.

I bought one of those E1 3-9x50s not long ago for $100, from Natchez IiRC, but they seem to have vanished. OTOH Midway still has $125 4500 1-4s with free shipping, so I picked up one for a spare.
The S1 G2 1.75-5 looks useful, and light.
What fresh Hell is this?

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

gritrsports.com has the E1 3-9x50/duplex @ $134… But if you’re deadset on spending $300,there’s a nos Weaver Grand Slam 3-10x40 on EBay for $260 + shipping

I have both and like them. My Sightron has a standard duplex and sits on a 7x57mm, the FF II is unemployed at the moment since I removed it from a M70 headed for sale.
