I’ve always wanted to do that…ever since reading Ruark and his full auto story I’ve thought it would be a blast. They wise up faster than the baboons in Chicago too. 😂

But do they shoot back, with gun held sideways?

I’d feel more in danger by the African baboons, the Chicago dipshits only ever hit innocent people a block away.

I was always told they about beg you to shoot them if you get the chance. Only known one person to do it, and he got the dang thing mounted.

Long time ago - I think it was Brother Dave talking about getting a baboon mounted to ride shotgun in the truck. HOV lane.

I think it would be fun times. I would have no problem as it seems that they are comparable to hogs in America. I would let them lay where they fell.

I remember when I was still working at a j.o.b. there was a guy who commuted the same path I did who had a crash test dummy with clothes and a hat that rode in his passenger seat so he could run the HOV lanes.

My son dated a woman who had a son and an ex husband. Son said he liked divorcees as their expectations were not too high. He related the story that she told when her son returned from a weekend visit. The son said they went to a drive thru safari in Missouri in Dad’s 4X4 with a new Polaris 4X4 in the bed of the truck, brand new with the plastic still on it. Said a big baboon jumped into the bed of the truck and atop the new Polaris in the back. The baboon started eating the seat and the handlebars grips and wouldn’t stop. The back window was a sliding type so the man, slid it open and yell at the baboon to prevent more damage. The baboon ignored him and ate bigger chunks from the Polaris. The man told his son to stick his fingers in his ears, reached under his seat for his 9mm and blew the Polaris eating baboon off the seat and out the bed off the truck. They continued the drive thru, but at the exit 2 deputy sheriffs were waiting. They carried him to a JP where he was fined 5K for the baboon. The man paid the fine but demanded the body. He got it and carried it to his taxidermist to get mounted. Yes, my son said, rednecks are found everywhere, not just in the Deep South!

Tried hunting them a bit in RSA. Could never get close enough for clean shot. However when my wife went out with a camera they weren't spooked at all. Seem like they know what a boom stick was.

I would not have left my rifle 500 yards away even if I did have a pistol.
It looks like fun and I imagine they learn pretty quickly what his vehicle sounds like and the direction of his approaches.

At the gate, coming out of the Serengetti Park, a safari car several vehicles behind us pulled in with it's top still up. A big baboon clear across the lot saw that, raced over, hit the tire, the roof, and was inside just that fast.

The screams were epic!

I LMAO.

In 2004 in RSA I shot them at nite out of the big power line towers that crossed the country. My PH asked me how much ammo I had, I replied all I could bring in lol. Off we went to the power lines. A 338 win mag will blow a hole in one, they wouldn't let me bring any parts home tho. Wanted a skull but no go. Lots of fun tho

I've seen plenty of baboons in Africa but have no desire to shoot one. They're a little too much like humans for my taste, although there's no doubt they cause problems at times.
