Back in the seventies, someone said, "Nothing ever goes away."
I honestly don't remember any celebrations or even mention of it in school. Advantage of growing up in a small town that's economy was based on the petrochemical industry.
I was a sophomore in high school. I remember it well and all of the excitement around the big green E for Earth Day. I do remember one of the officials in charge of the celebration saying this will be just like everything else and within a matter of less than a year, it will all be forgotten about.
Nobody was ever more wrong than that guy was. I consider Earth Day to the beginning of the end for American life and the way we used to live versus how we live today…
I'm going to cut down a couple of trees this afternoon for my old uncle. I kid you not.....planned to do it for about a week, had no idea it was earth day!
PS....these are little trees, I ain't no lumber jack or anything!
