We planted two pear tress, an. apple, and a cherry tree today.

Nice what size? I buy the biggest I can find at 3 inches around. They are more expensive but I dont want to wait years for them to produce.

I currently have two peach, pear, apple, plum and cherries. Hopefully the plum and cherry will produce this year

The bare root trees are small, the pears, and cherry trees were in 21/2 gallon pot.

Ok now go spray them with bug killer and then put the stuff out to keep the critters from eating them,everything eats the fruit trees good luck

This year apricot, peach, plum, english walnut and pecan. Plus any good looking trees Walmart puts on clearance.

My blueberry bushes are over five feet high now and doing well.

You guys ever eat a Pluot ??? Had a few 10 years ago from some folks that sold fruit. Sadly they passed away.

Are the pear trees a self-pollinating variety and do you already have other varieties of apple and cherry trees to cross-pollinate them?

I planted two verities.

We planted a dozen apple trees last year when we bought our place. Nothing yet this year as I put in 100 evergreens for wind breaks. Everything takes time. Curious how your pear trees grow as we in eastern Iowa and would like to have some. Had several citrus fruits when I was stationed in ga, but can’t imagine they will do good up here.

Read up on Solar Green Houses. You could raise most things, just depends if you justify the cost.

We need to replace 2 apples and 2 apricots. Grapes have been dead for quite a while….I really need/want to replace them, maybe this year. 4 Pears, 5 White Crabapple, 4 (other) apples, 3 plum, 3 cherries, 2 peach, a bunch of Choke Cherries, Gooseberries, Currents, Asparagus, and Rhubarb are all looking pretty good.

Now to finish the chicken house, and get the garden started! Have a large row started for Raspberries. memtb

Wild blueberries are good..... Not much effort involved. Generally picked incidental to hunting.

Moving some raspberries around in a week or two... strawberries too, but none of those 3 are "trees".

Some folks up in Anchorage seem to be having some success with apples.

Had a nice little group prior to the floods in 2016. Lost all but the fig trees.

Whatever was in that water has made it hard to get anything going again.

We have about a dozen assorted fruit trees. We used to have 2 standard sweet cherries. They got too big to pick. I have a 10' orchard ladder and it was nowhere near high enough to get at them. I finally took them out and planted 3 dwarf cherries. They've been producing for 3 years now and are much easier to pick. They're too big for nets, though. Reflective ribbons work so-so but they're easy to put on with clothes pins. The cherries on one of them aren't as good as the other 2 trees so last year I left it without ribbons. The birds went to it and mostly left the other 2 alone.
