My best friend has been with me through thick and thin. The day of my accident he came to my house to help cut up some firewood I had for him from trees I had taken down. In the process of using a buzz saw my fingers got in the way. After yelling for him to call 911 he proceeded to grab a ratchet strap and make a tourniquet for my wrist. He then went down back found my fingers and put them in a dunkin donuts cup full of ice. I called him from the helicopter and hebwas in tears saying it was his fault. I said it was accident [bleep] happens no matter how careful you are and I dont blame him. We had a great friendship before the accident but it has been forged in fire. I am blessed to have a handful of friends who fight over who will be the first to help the other one out without expecting anything in return

After Jesus, my Wife. Yours? I don't have one. Best of friends is not the same as best friend. I'd call my GF the best of my friends but that's not enough. I think there has to be a willingness to kill to save me. Jesus? He died for me but would he kill to save me? Seemingly not.

Was you able to save your fingers? I have friends , but more like fair weathered friends. When I was between age 18-30 , I thought I had good friends and sadly I did not. There are true tests in life that tell of a good friend. It sounds like you have a good friend! Congrats with envy!

Like said before god first then my family , but best friend is a different person for me , my wife is my soul mate my best friend would bury someone for me . and yes I have been blessed with a couple of those guys in my lifetime.

My best friend is my wife she's always been there for me both good & bad with my crazy partying days don't know how she stayed with me. I kinda grew up some at 57 and stopped with the partying never realized how much money I spent on booze till I sobered up.

I agree with what has been said above, god first and family comes second. I also agree that my best friend is neither of the above. He is the one who tells me I'm an idiot, then helps me with the project. He is the one who asks about my insurance, then helps me with the project. He is the one that knows when not to ask questions, not to give advice, not to judge, and still helps me with the project. Whatever the project seems to be that day, he is the one who will help me. He knows who he is.

I’ve had three wives, I thought they were all my best friend, but I know my best friend for 65 years, will always stand and fight for me and my family, just like I would his, Real friends or buddy are harder to come by than wives.
