Was you able to save your fingers? I have friends , but more like fair weathered friends. When I was between age 18-30 , I thought I had good friends and sadly I did not. There are true tests in life that tell of a good friend. It sounds like you have a good friend! Congrats with envy! No my girlfriend at the time carried them around in a cup of ice for 14 hours before the doctor decided he couldn't save them. Im still doing everything I was before my accident accept counting to 10 and flipping both birds. Actually ive accomplished more in the 3 years since my accident then the 40 years leading up to it. Nothing like a near death experience to put things in perspective

Without a doubt my wife is the best friend I’ve ever had and ever will have. One of my best friends was my best fishing buddy and a great guy who understood me as well as I understood him…he died of cancer 4 years ago this coming August. He was 59 and left behind his beautiful family. I think about him everyday and every morning his family are in my prayers!

I've known him since we were 5 (kindergarten). We're 38 now, one of the best dudes I've ever known. We both had other "best friends" in high school and the best thing we ever did was getting rid of those losers and re-connecting in college.

I’ve got several that I would consider a “best friend”. Some are church friends, some are wor friends, some from high school etc. of course my wife is among them. I am grateful for them all!

Like said before god first then my family , but best friend is a different person for me , my wife is my soul mate my best friend would bury someone for me . and yes I have been blessed with a couple of those guys in my lifetime. My wife of 39 years is also my soulmate and I've no doubt that she would also bury someone for me should the need arise.

Friends are important for different reasons than spouses.
If my spouse is relegated to "best friend" - I screwed up. Friends are there for friend things - spouses for spouse things and it is different. Now I may value my spouse MORE than my friend in the long haul, doesn't make them my best friend.
I have 2 people I'd call my "closest friends" - one I've known since birth (our parents were friends, we shared a crib as he's 6 weeks older n me) and another I met in HS - friends 30+ years now.
