After a lengthy announcement and wait from Speer, the IMPACT line has been made available to handloaders. Currently only available in only .264" and. 308" this is a long range high BC tipped bonded bullet, which is new territory for SPEER.
I wanted to try these in my 6.5 Creedmoor so I picked up 2 boxes. I read that these were being loaded in the Remington Premier line of ammo which would explain why it took so long for them to be available as component bullets.
I'll say that upon initial inspection they seem to be a well made bullet, and not just a tipped version of the gold dot / fusion rather they appear to me a new design, possibly made in a similar fashion.
I was curious if anyone has any first hand experience in either the accuracy or on game performance or both. I just received my order so I haven't had the chance to start load development yet.

I'm interested in the 172 grain .308. I would like to know if the stated b.c.'s for the various velocities are exaggerated or not. I've never been confident about Speer's claimed b.c.'s on their other bullets.

I can't give you any specific information on the accuracy of the stated BC but I can tell you the .264" 140gr is a very sleek and slender aerodynamic looking bullet that I'm sure will lend itself to accuracy.

I was gung ho to try thm as well, since Interbonds are hard to find now. But they are priced at $1.30 per bullet here, not interested at that price. I still have 350 or so, 165 gr Interbonds for moose/elk and deer............and Interlocks will do nicely for deer as well. Not worth it to me.

I have a box of the 172 grain Impacts. Speer sent me their load data, so I'll be loading them up in the .30-06 using the remaining RL-17 I have.
I'll probably load them somewhere around 2,750 - 2,800 fps MV, or wherever they group best. But I'll have to wait for test media season to open and hopefully recover the bullet.
It's you and the bullet, and all the rest is secondary.

Will the 190s stabilize in my 11" twist Tikka?
