I'm a lefty. I want to buy a Browning McMillan Hells Canyon in 7 PRC. This is the long range model with 26" heavy Sporter barrel. The gun is fluted, threaded, and cerakoted.

I would like to have the barrel cut to 22" for handling and to get the weight towards 7lbs as much as I can. I don't care about threading it again. Will cutting it into the flutes mess up the barrel or the cerakote finish?

Any suggestions on a Smith to do this as I don't have one locally?

Why not just buy a 280 if that's what you want to reduce the perfance to? Mb

Yep. Two inches of barrel and fluting won't yield much weight loss. I calculate about 1 & 3/4 ounces

Have done it often and hardly a deal, let alone a big one. Hint.

Balance/handling trumps all and is an EASY fix. Hint.

Just sayin’……….
