There is a gun shop in this small town that has a pre-64 Model 70 Fwt in 308 for sale. Anyways, I learned from the gun shop staff there that Fwts had a unique serial number system over standard Pre-64 Model 70s. This explains why the serial number was milled completely off and some funky non readable serial number was restamped on there. Winchester did this to all the Fwts don’t you know.
Now I took it as stolen, altered, and very poorly restamped. But I was wrong and corrected by the staff. Please update all the periodicals and books. We need to update the Rule book immediately.

Thanks RAS, for the informative rundown on how the pre 64 fwt's were seralized. I had no idea. Good info though, nonetheless.. I have Rule's phone number, should I call him and let him know to update his book?

Let's be sure to inform the relevant Federal Agencies who surely will be grateful to have their confusion set right! That goes right along with the German K98k rifles which couldn't be "SS" Runes because they defaced the Hebrew markings!
