The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources conducts annual public auctions of surplus and confiscated items. Items may include vehicles, hunting and fishing equipment, farming equipment, firearms and boats.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife will host a live auction to sell surplus items and confiscated hunting and fishing equipment on Monday, May 6, 2024.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. (ET), and the auction of surplus property and confiscated items will begin at 10 a.m. (ET). The auction will be held outdoors, rain or shine, on the department’s headquarters campus at 1 Sportsman’s Lane in Frankfort.
Anyone may bid on surplus equipment regardless of residency. Under state law, only qualified Kentucky residents may bid on confiscated items. All firearm purchasers must pass a background check.
I went to one and wasn't very impressed with the deals. Some of the stuff was pretty abused. as well. Anything very nice is going to get bid up fast. They also had some restrictions on the way you had to pay, but they might have changed that since then and made it easier.
Been once & buying a gun worth the money was near impossible. Auction fever or previous owners trying to get their stuff back.
The Jon boats & the 9.9hp Honda OB's from the the State Park lakes going for premium bucks in my book. I did miss a big river Jon with a ripped out transom realizing I knew very good tig welders, but that didn't register at the time. And it all went quick.
I wouldn’t give those pr..ks a nickel. They break more laws than the hunters. They also patrol lakes and rivers and show ignorance and lack of boating skill and courtesy! I haven’t bought a license for 30 years and never will again!
