I did a 30 American in an AR. It is just a 30 Herrett rimless. After all the headaches (mostly self inflicted), I got a little more than 100 fps more than my 7.62x39 AR does.

Good for what? As normal with gun folks, depends on what you like and want to accomplish. Have experimented with the 7/30 and the 7mmTCU in Contenders (but not the .30 Herrett) and killed Javelina on handgun tags.

Fun to tinker with. Factory loads for .300 Savage or .308 W loaded to the same pressure numbers outperform both of them and you don't have to fireform the brass.

I have a NIB 94 in 7/30 Waters.

Haven't decided what to do with it over these years.

I have a 30 Herrett Contender with a 10" barrel. I've shot several Whitetails with it. Works fine.
