"Fixes everything but the cat!" Oh I guarundamntee it will fix a cat. You don't actually like cats do you? Just citing the old magazine ad with the startled-looking cat.

Watching cutting disks repeatedly fly apart is entertaining. Agree to disagree on that!

I have one set up for my chain saw sharpening. My late landlord used one for his toe nails. I have the big dremel motor that is like the Foredom. I may have 5-7 dremels. I use one for trimming door strikes / latches with a small carbide bit. I use one dremel that has the attachment that turns it into a router. Used that to cut the “F” holes in a fender style guitar. With a 1/8 bit, little to no tear out.

Very useful tool, particularly with a cutoff wheel.

Thwew's actually a "professional" model Dremel that most Vietnamese nail salons use- - - -heavier duty and better speed control than the "hobby" tools.

Thanks Hotrod! I will look into it ! I have a old Dremel that is in the bakealite housing. It has less power but it’s smooth in operation . I’ve also used a dremel to cut a shower drain pipe from the inside. Was doing a side job and did not have my inside cutter with me. I’ve seen top notch finish carpenters use them with the drum sander to blend in inside mitre joints. When I put a 5 speed trans in my old Jeep, to marry the transfer case (Dana300) I had to cut about an inch off the output shaft with the cut off wheel.

Got one for Chrimmus about 1996
still in the box in the shop, prob full of mouse turds Same here. Step-son bought me one for Father's Day about eight years ago. He didn't understand why I wanted a corded one. I told him it wouldn't get a lot of use, but when I did need it, I wouldn't want to have a dead battery.

They are very handy tools, I’ve been tempted to buy the Milwaukee die grinder which is like a dremel on steroids

I have multiple Dremel tools. Used to pick up the corded ones cheap ( under $10) at my favorite pawn shop. Middle son gave me a nice set one Christmas with storage box and accessories. Picked up a cordless on at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. I use the Dremel to make accoutrements for muzzleloading and in carving staffs and canes. Great for shaping powder horns. The Cratex tip works great for polishing feed ramps. Even my podiatrist uses one to trim my toenails on the right foot. I have a prosthesis on the left. I asked for and received a 50% discount cos I have only one foot to work on.

I've bought a few Dremel tools over the years but they're too light duty wouldn't do what I needed them to do. I ended up buying real tools.

How many weeks did it take, to cut the output shaft? And where did you get a cutoff wheel big enough?

I had a piece of molar break off and leave a very sharp edge that was cutting into the inside of my cheek. There was no way that I was going through the weekend like that so I used my dremel with a grinding stone to take the sharp edge off. Worked like a dream.
