This concept fits the designator "designated marksman". An infantryman in the field will always opt for most dependable, lightest and max ammo. GT has some very current and telling segments w/ vets of the wars in Israel/palestine and Ukraine which give different views of combat and the realities of todays battlefields. The elephant in the room is and always will be time/budget for all but the top tier units. The average grunt does not receive the training he needs and deserves. mike r

Looks like there will be a market for a bolt gun. Titanium 3 lug bolt and a 24" barrel should have decent performance, eh? What does quickload say?

It's a 277x51, performance of sporting ammo in a sporting rifle will be between a 264x51 and a 284x51. 260 Rem, fury, 7-08

My thought was an 80K psi bolt gun for the hot stuff.

The round gets 3061 fps from a 16 inch barrel with a 113 grain TSX bullet. Could make a very light sheep rifle

The only reasons I can see for this idea... 1. Send a message that you already dead. 2. Once and for all dispel any rumors of the 270 WCF's imperceived inadequacies.

I don't see SAAMI approving the hot stuff. Won't be a factory rifle without.
Nor do I see the hot stuff released to the public. Can you spell liability?
I am not adventurous enough to develop handloads to 80,000 psi without guidance from the manufacturers.
The first civilian issue rifle to blow up with 80K ammo would make the injured party or heirs into instant millionaires.
Then there is the issue of acquisition of the steel headed cases.
