Likely an instant death. If it hit her unawares, she was alive one second, and gone to this world in the next second, never knowing anything unusual was happening. Like a safe falling on someone from three stories up that a work crew was delivering to a balcony.

Something similar happened in Little Rock Arkansas in 1969 when I was there in the USAF. A dual rear wheel and brake drum assembly came off the rear axle of a dump truck on I-40 in downtown Little Rock, crossed the median at 65 MPH, and hit an oncoming Volkswagen beetle head on. The two people in the bug were killed instantly.

Had a recurring dream of that when I was between 10-14 years old. Really fat woman who turned into a steam roller and trying to run me down.

Don't look like a drum to me. Looks like a steel casing, like one put in for an elevator cylinder.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

Yeah, those liberal kids reporting on this crap calling it a "steel drum" are dumb as a box of rocks...

It was casing or a pretty good section of thick wall 40" pipe.

Somebody, either the construction company or the University is gonna pay.

So who's culpable?

When I was driving the big rig, I drove most of my miles on I-10 between Mobile and San Antonio. I often stopped at the east bound rest area in Mississippi. One day, I noticed bright orange paint on the asphalt, the outline of a body, in the parking spot there. I saw more spots of sprayed paint on the grass, it led on a trail back to the interstate, 400 feet away. I talked to a cop there, he said an 18 wheeler going west bound had lost a wheel, travelled 400 feet at 70 mph, hit a college girl in the head.

(image: WPMI) Bizarre: Woman killed by stray tire at Mississippi rest area

GAUTIER, Miss. (WPMI) — A bizarre death at a rest area on I-10 in Mississippi as a college student is killed after being hit by a tire from an 18-wheeler

WLOX in Biloxi is reporting the 21-year-old woman died Tuesday, after she was struck by a tire that broke free from an 18-wheeler driving westbound on I-10 near Gautier, Mississippi.

Police are still piecing together exactly what went down. but so far they've determined the 18-wheeler lost 2 wheels.

Those wheels rolled through the eastbound lanes and into the rest stop striking the student from Tulane University in New Orleans.

Police say she and her two friends had stopped to use the restroom and were about get back into their car when the truck tires struck one woman and smashed into their car and an SUV parked next to it.

Good crews consider slopes and losing round things. Not to mention vandalism.

Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.

The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.

Those 2 dingbats talk like it is a fun day at the fair. That tire was smoking, he got hit right in the head, lucky if he wasn't killed.
