26 year old zero turn hydraulic leaking on 3rd cutting this year. That's how I buggered up my back trying to get that steel line off wheel motor.

Got the bastid off and can't see anything wrong. I figured a crack at flare edge but nothing. The flare does have a face seal O ring that don't look good.

Left the fittings covered with rubber gloves tied on, forgot about 2 gallon oil reservoir being higher than pumps.

Returned about 4 days later (after shot in back) to find a pond of oil in the shop. Glove looked like a cow udder....

Most of a 5 gallon bucket of oil dry later the nerve is pinched up and left leg is on fire again.

Fugg it. We have another mower, the other half can run that one and has for the last 3 cuttings.

Slum, sorry no pics yet. I'll work on doing better. (crippled boomer)

Ha .
I wore myself out mowing my GranPaws yard with one of those when I was about 12 years old.
I'd get up a head of steam- then make about 25' back up and do it again. So it was getting double mowed. Took about 5-6 hours- the downhill part on the far side of the house was easier.

Grass was about 5” yesterday. Today it’s at 1” , mostly due to the sustained 25+ mph wind. Needs mowing though.

Funny story about your mower earlybird- shortly after I got married my wife said we should get a reel mower. I thought she said real mower and I was offended because I thought the mower I had was perfectly adequate.

I’ve still got GrandDad’s old Reel Mower like that.
Mine might be be older than yours, as the handles are wooden instead of steel like the one in your photo.

I know he had it before I was born, a I’ll be 64 in a few weeks. 😬

Mowed with it quite a bit when I was a kiddo in the 60’s.

The trick is don't let the grass get tall, mow and mow often.

When we had a small suburban lawn I had a nice one earlybird, the type used on golf courses. Cut like a charm, no gasoline smell or hearing protection needed.

Got to places with bigger lawns and I was working away from home for months at a time. Went battery powered. Never going back to gas for small lawns.

Own a riding mower now, bought it from the neighbor I used to borrow it from, one of them nasty "norwegians" some folks here don't like. Sold it to me for a good price when he moved. It's for mowing the rest of the stuff around the 7 Acre RANCH! that needs mowing, like the firebreak outside the backyard.

Grass is getting up there now, waiting for it to go to seed before it gets cut. I love free grass seed.
