Honestly a half tang is something I'm not sure I've heard of before, but really why not?

The weight is amazing!

As others mentioned, I too like a thin blade more and more, especially for peeling hide which I suspect that's going to excel at.

All is well down south. Summers coming. Already getting hot and humid.

Not sure who made the first partial tang knives.

I’ve seen some older Phil Wilson knives like that. Maybe he was the first.

More recently Big Chris Custom knives makes some like that.

Not ideal for a chopper or bushcraft knife used for batoning, but should work well for a slicer.

Per Phil, Wayne Goddard started the partial tang design because he wanted to make knives from planer blades and they were too short for full tang construction. He did say he'd seen others, including Bob Loveless make some knives that way.

First thing I typed in my earlier reply was "nice knife, Dave." Don't know how I blitzed that away...

I’ve been meaning to order Larrin Thomas’ book on History of Knives..

It's a great book Phil is in there!

My brother and I made some around 2003 or 2004. We were by no means the first to do so either. We were making our version of an old (very old) Remington knife that was likely some sort of butcher knife. I always thought it was a good way to make a knife out of a short piece of steel. It's not the easiest way to make a knife especially if you make it with a one piece handle. But it makes a knife that is lighter than normal, that can have the weight forward if that is what you like. I like the one posted here! It looks like a very functional knife to me.
